A local senior care management company acquired the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS)’ office building at 700 Professional Drive in Gaithersburg. The 67,808 square foot building was traded for $10 million. The new owner plans to occupy the first floor of the property itself. Sophie Tsai, Vice President for CapStar Commercial Realty represented the buyer, and Savills represented HSUS in this sales transaction.
The two-story building on an 8.9-acre site was formerly owned and occupied by the Humane Society of the United States. It is located along the I-270 Life Sciences corridor at the recently completed Watkins Mill Interchange, where several multi-family and life sciences offices are under construction or planning pipelines.
“I sensed that my client, an occupier, was competing with investors and developers, who wanted to turn the property to life science, mixed-use, or multi-family.
